Alick Macheso has allayed fears that he might suspend musical shows following a road traffic accident on Sunday.
The sungura music icon was involved in a road traffic accident along the Harare-Mutoko highway on Sunday while travelling from a musical show.
Pictures of his damaged vehicle had sparked concern from stakeholders, including fans despite the musician’s handleers assuring that he escaped unhurt. Speaking exclusively to H-Metro, Macheso said he is “fit and ready to perform.”
Macheso is travelling to Mozambique where he is scheduled to headline that country’s Independence Celebrations in Manica this Friday.
He is travelling with sons Esau and Tatenda backed by their Cheso Boys.
“I’m really grateful and appreciate the concern from my fans, family, friends and stakeholders.
“Let me assure them once again that I’m fine and ready to proceed with our shows as scheduled.
“I really understand their concerns, considering what they might have seen on social media.
“It’s not an incident (the accident) to take lightly and like what I said before, ndinotenda musiki nekutirwira mumweya yerima.
“The prayers from the fans, family and friends always protect us and keep us strong;” he said.
The musician’s publicist Tich Makahamadze reiterated his boss’ readiness for the show saying preparations are going on well.
“From our end everything is going on well and we are ready for the show in Mozambique this Friday where we also command a huge following.
“In terms of Mopao (Alick Macheso), nothing has changed from what we said on the day of the accident and the statement we further issued.
“Actually, he can’t wait to meet his fans again, especially in Mozambique. This is a show being organised by a promoter and from our communication we are looking forward to a successful event,” said Makahamadze.
